Penang History:
Wondering how the name Penang came into being? The original and first name of this island was Pulau Ka-Satu or ‘First Island’. It was renamed to a Prince of Wales Island in 1786. The Penang Island is located in the Strait of Malacca this has been an important trade source the trade routes are Europe, the Middle East, India, and China. The reason behind this long trade route is that the Penang has a very diverse melting pot and this makes it the best in doing the trade. The main reason that why merchants use Penang as a trade route is a monsoon.
Before the Penang got its government the island was under the supervision of Kedah state. Kedah was an important Indian center of trade and influence. Kedah has played an important role in making Penang History. The island Penang was discovered by Chinese Merchants back in those days. The Chinese and Indian merchants brought their culture to Penang and made history.
Firstly, the Georgetown was a massive forest and to make the Georgetown alive they cut down all of the massive trees and so the Georgetown was made. It was a dense jungle at that time and so now it is a new city. Before 20th-century merchants came to merchandise the island and that is why it is called as “Pearl of the Orient”.
Penang Culture:
It would not be wrong if you may be called as that food is a Penang Culture because food is the main thing that covers more than half of the Penang Culture. The street food is the biggest attraction and certainly the best place for all foodie so if want to explore the culture of Penang, do eat and eat a lot!
