How to Plan A trip To Taipei
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is the primary international airport of Taipei. There is a smaller airport too located in central Taipei, the Songshan airport. However, most international flights depart and arrive from Taoyuan instead of the smaller Songshan. Taipei is located about thirty kilometers away from the airport and freeway buses run in plenty picking up and dropping off the passengers at most major five star hotels. Taipei’s main station and Songshan Airport are the two major stops that form a part of these freeway buses. Besides, the bus services also connect the airport to nearby cities and Taichung in Central Taiwan.
Best Time To Travel To Taipei
Deciding when to visit Taipei can be a bit tricky, thanks to Taiwan’s sub-tropical climatic conditions and its location in the Pacific Ocean which consequently gives the city its four seasons. The city gets its fair share of rainy days and typhoons bringing two to three storms every year. Historically speaking, the month of December sees the lowest rainfall at about sixty millimeters while August month sees the most at about 300 millimeters.
-
June – August
The hottest time in Taipei is its long, humid summers when the temperatures soar to as high as forty degrees Celsius. The summers extend from June to August with high humidity making the summers stickier and all the more unbearable. The summer months fall in the middle of the typhoon season which extends up to October beginning June. Though the city is pretty typhoon-resistant, frequent rains and strong winds can affect your travel plans. It is advisable to keep a track of weather reports if you are planning to visit during this season.
-
November to January
If you are looking for a quiet and alone time in Taipei, head to the city during its low seasons i.e. during the winter months from November to January. Though the rain is considerably lower during this time, the temperatures also fall to as low as sixteen degrees Celsius which feels like six degrees, thanks to the high levels of humidity always present in the air. The winter months see fewer than a few tourists with airfares and hotel rates seeing a record low. Chinese New Year is generally celebrated at the end of January and beginning of February. The festivities lure the tourists who come to enjoy not just the New Year celebrations but also the Lantern festival.
-
March to May – Best time to see Taipei
That brings us to the best time to visit Taipei. The months between March to May are the most favored by travelers, courtesy of the temperatures staying at a bearable level. The rainfall is comparatively lighter during these months and the cherry trees in their full bloom. The temperatures are just beginning to rise from the winter lows and at the verge of soaring further up to the summer highs which make it the best time to see Taipei.
-
May to September
However, tourists also flock the city during the months from May to September. Though the weather is mostly rainy, Taipei also receives ample sunlight on most days which makes the city hot enough to fill the hotels making the prices of nearly everything extremely high.
