Wonderful

The Resort was incredible and the service was probably the best I have experienced. We were extremely satisfied with the location, the extremely helpful and friendly staff and the beautiful exterior with so many pools and restaurants.
:
The only difficult part was that the resort was not answering my emails.

It is a very beautiful setting, the patio and pool overlook the Nile and the mountains and valleys beyond. The staff were helpful and the breakfast quiet exceptional … best ever! The hotel is stunning and classy throughout. Swimming in the pool by the Nile day and night was quite magical. There are some lovely local restaurants near in walking distance, the Lanterns and for a cheap meal Maximes. We stayed for six nights and loved it,
:
The hotel was in a state of change when we stayed and there was little or no tourist information available to help us orientate ourselves. The Nile Cruisers a few hundred metres up river ran their diesel engines all the time, some with dirty exhausts. It dented the ambience a little. Maybe when its more busy they would be away up river. Personally I didn't like being greeted by Egyptian musicians whenever we returned. After a day of hassle on the streets I wanted a place which was baksheesh free!

The Achti is right on the bank of Nile and just 10 minutes from the centre of Luxor by Taxi. The staff are outstanding. They were friendly, willing and took the time to get to know my family. Our room was clean, cool and we could walk straight onto a terrace to watch the sun set over the river.
There's a desk at reception for organising private tours. They booked our visit to the Valley of the Kings plus some of the more distant sights one morning. That took 5 hours, so we started at 7am to avoid the midday heat. For other sites closer to the Hotel, such as Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple, we took a taxi. If you need a guide, you'll commonly find one at any of the larger sites. We hired one for the first hour of our Karnak visit. Karnak and Luxor Temples are linked by an 3KM ancient road. It's lined with sphynxes and our taxi driver stopped to let us take photos from a bridge spanning it.
We're adventurous with food in any Country, but Egypt doesn't make is easy to find a decent meal outside of the Hotels. The Achti does a great job and the breakfast buffet is excellent. It's not quite the Four Seasons in Cairo (top class), but you'll find an good selection of hot and cold foods and an Omelette Chef. For dinner, their Italian restaurant does a good job of things and their main restaurant has a decent enough menu to please most people.
Getting onto the river was easy. The staff organised that for us with a local sailor at just one hour's notice. The boats are berthed next to the Hotel and you can sail as the sun sets or pop over the river by motor boat to Banana Island.
It's probably a small thing, but TV in Egyptian Hotels seems a bit hit and miss. The Achti has a good selection with BBC World Service, CNN and movies. That was handy, because I had picked up an illness in Cairo. A few hours of downtime in the room one day was just a little more pleasant.

We're pretty hardy travellers, so walking around Cairo and Luxor wasn't an issue for us. You're celebrities if you do, but "No" is a word that sometimes falls on deaf ears. Be prepared to say it politely, but firmly.

:
This is our 2nd time here in Achti hotel. Everything was ok, the nile view is amazing. The breakfast was great for vegetarians too.
:
My boyfriend left the room in the last morning around 7am and after that the cleaning stuff come to our room. He knocked and immediately open the door and I was almost naked... We put the "do not disturb" sign but unfortunately they don't care. I don't understand what he thought... Just one person left the room and we are not checked out yet.

Good
:
Great service compared to Egyptian standards. Nice swimming pool and gardens, perfect for families.
:
Average cleanliness (generally ok but don't look in the corners or underneath the beds..). Due to off season, most restaurants were closed without notice.
Breakfast was very poor, products were not fresh and clearly served again day after day.

Reception had to get us on wiFi and we could not repeat what they did to get service in our room.
Meant couldn’t make flight arrangements out of Luxor and find lodging in Athens. However, reception kindly called Egyptian Air and arranged Taxi to take us to ticket office and back.Spouse and I DID get very sick the day we left and we sick for over 24 hours.
